The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It, by Michael E. Gerber.
I was first introduced to this book in 2003 when I was opening my marketing company. Since then, I have recommend the book to everyone I know who is seriously thinking about starting a business, or who is trying to take their business to the next level of success.
The 4-Hour Workweek, by Timothy Ferriss.
This is a book I picked up and put down several times since it was first published. Finally, after two people recommended it to me in the same week, I committed to finishing it. Once I got through the beginning, I was hooked! This is a book that will inspire you to work smarter, not harder. Best of all, it will tell you how to do that! I’m still not convinced I can have a 4-Hour workweek, but it helped me radically think about how I spend my time.
How to Work a Room, by Susan RoAne.
This is a must-read for anyone who has ever felt awkward in any social setting. Whether you are going to business networking events, a new association meeting, or event the dreaded high school reunion, this book will give you the tools you need to make those events successful.
Business Tools
Computer crashed? Not to worry if you use Carbonite automatic backup system. For as little as $59 a year, you can have the confidence of knowing your files, pictures, etc. are securely backed up for you. This is also a great tool to use if you are upgrading to a new computer. Simply back up your old one and restore the files to your new one.
You have probably heard of Constant Contact, the email marketing service. However, the company is more than just email marketing. They offer online survey, event marketing, and social media marketing tools, too! Their customer service is amazing, free and all based in the US. Prices start at $15 a month.
